“The V.A.” carries on Sam and Peter’s successful work to stop the destructive Americlean and St. Lawrence Cement projects at the Hudson Waterfront, as the leaders of Friends of Hudson.
The Alliance has been deeply involved and engaged with City of Hudson government and issues for the past quarter-century, in particular with the shaping of its waterfront area.
We have worked for many years to encourage participation in various public review processes, and to share research about projects impacting the South Bay and overallWaterfront area.

The group its constituents were highly active in the public process which resulted in of the City’s Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan, as well as with the Department of State’s designation of the South Bay Creek & Marsh as a Significant Coast Fish & Wildlife Habitat. We also have been instrumental in bringing to light land title issues regarding the parcels claimed by corporate interests, demonstrating that 4.4 acres abutting the Hudson dock are in fact public land.
Most recently, we’ve participated in and encouraged constituents to engage with the various Colarusso reviews in Greenport and Hudson.
We send out important bulletins on waterfront news and developments from time to time — we promise not to overload your inbox. To join the list, send an email with your name to hudsonbay@mac.com
